Increasing Affordable Housing Supply
The Housing Authority is working closely with the housing industry to significantly increase the supply and diversity of affordable housing in Western Australia. The objective is to create 30,000 affordable housing opportunities by 2020. A cornerstone of this approach is the ongoing Call for Submissions for Affordable Housing.
Partnering with the Private Sector
The Housing Authority is looking to partner with industry, developers and landowners to deliver quality affordable housing. The aim is to tap into the innovation and efficiencies of the private sector to procure housing at wholesale prices that will provide “entry-point” home ownership opportunities for low-to-moderate income households.
Several “Calls for Submissions” were issued in 2011-2016 to great success with many innovative proposals received. The Housing Authority was able to deliver appropriately priced housing to be sold under a shared home ownership scheme whereby Housing retains a percentage of the equity. By purchasing at wholesale prices through the Calls for Submissions process, the Housing Authority has been able to offer shared equity home ownership at price points below $300,000.
Design briefs, construction specifications and desired locations are available for download from this website and as part of the Call for Submissions documentation. Prospective respondents are invited to complete the online registration form below to obtain the Call for Submissions documentation. This documentation will outline the Housing Authority’s requirements and preferences for affordable housing.
The Housing Authority encourages the private sector to present for consideration submissions for the development of well designed, well located and value for money affordable housing in metropolitan Perth or regional Western Australia.
To assist the private sector to prepare submissions, the Housing Authority has an affordable housing EOI team contactable on (08) 9440 2228 and email email@example.com.
